How Planet B works today, and how a single exhibition in Abuja becomes the first chapter of a hundred-year archive.

What Planet B is
Planet B is a permanent home for a movement: a climate-and-art federation that keeps its people, works, and records verifiable for as long as the internet exists. It is not a campaign site or a gallery microsite; it is the institution’s memory.
It was founded through its Genesis Chapter: a workshop and exhibition in Abuja convened by the Nike Art Gallery & Foundation and the Royal Norwegian Embassy. Fourteen founding artists turned waste and lived experience into fourteen works about the planet we are handing on. Planet B is where that act is recorded, honoured, and made permanent, and the frame into which every future chapter will fit.
The mark above is the project’s own, an eye that is also a clock near midnight. It breathes on a six-second loop: the institution keeping watch over time.
System architecture
Six layers, read top to bottom: from what a visitor touches, down to the infrastructure that keeps it alive. Each layer only speaks to the one beneath it, so any part can evolve without disturbing the rest.
How it works
Two journeys explain almost everything: how a page reaches a visitor, and how a record earns trust.
How a page is served
- 1A visitor opens a page at planet-b.tech.
- 2Vercel serves it instantly; React Server Components assemble the page on demand.
- 3The relevant domain reads only published, non-archived records. Nothing unfinished ever leaks.
- 4Turso, co-located in the same region, returns the data in milliseconds.
- 5The page is cached; a Publish in the Studio refreshes it automatically.
How a record earns trust
- 1A record is created in the Studio and given a permanent identifier, PB-CERT-000001.
- 2Its contents are hashed: a fingerprint that changes if a single character changes.
- 3Anyone can confirm a certificate by its ID or QR code at /verify. No login, no gatekeeper.
- 4A blockchain trust-layer will anchor those fingerprints beyond Planet B itself. (planned)
What is live today
The Genesis Chapter is fully published and running in production. Three faculties are already at work.
A museum on the web
Every founding artist, work, chapter, and partner has a permanent, elegantly presented record: built to the standard of a printed catalogue, readable for decades.
Curated, not crowd-sourced
A private admin with roles, an audit trail, a media library, and a draft-then-publish discipline. What the public sees is deliberate; nothing is fabricated to look complete.
Ask Planet B
Visitors search by meaning and ask questions in plain language. Answers are grounded in the archive’s own records, and visibility is never decided by popularity.

The Federation
The horizon1 of ∞Abuja is the first of many. The system is built to hold a hundred chapters over a hundred years: each new city and cohort a chapter under one permanent roof, inheriting the same trust, design, and memory.
Principles the system obeys
These are not slogans; they are enforced in the code and the data.
Truth over theatre
No demo data, ever. What is un-issued stays visibly un-issued until the real ceremony. The archive tells the truth about its own state.
Popularity never rules visibility
Search and discovery rank by relevance and meaning, never by views or trend. A quiet contribution stays findable for decades.
Built for rediscovery
Every record is permanently identified and semantically indexed, so it can be found again long after the moment that made it.
The archive outlives its makers
Permanent IDs, verifiable hashes, and a layered architecture mean the institution can change hands, tools, and hosts without losing its memory.
