Who Dr. Ngozi Akande is

Dr. Ngozi Rosemary Akande is a Nigerian visual artist, art administrator, mentor and advocate for women and children through art. She is a co-founder of the Female Artists Association of Nigeria (FEAAN) and served as its President from 2011 to 2018. She currently holds a leadership role with the association as Secretary of its Board of Trustees. She has a long professional history with the National Council for Arts and Culture, where she rose to senior leadership in arts and culture. She studied Fine Arts at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and holds a Master's in Art History from the same university and a PhD in Art History.

    Her painting “Life First Food” was used as a campaign image promoting exclusive breastfeeding, and is reported to have been used in Nigerian hospitals for approximately a decade.

    Long professional service in arts and culture administration, rising to senior leadership.
